Definition:Benefits of Leisure Activities - The good and positive results of leisure activities.

  4. Enjoyment - Taking pleasure in something.

  6. Stress - Mental or emotional strain because of demanding circumstances.

Activity 1: Leisure Benefits Assessment

Students will complete Leisure Benefits Assessment individually, by placing a check mark next to the statement that best represents how often leisure activities impact them in a particular way. When completed, students should give themselves 2 points for each “Always” response, 1 point for each “Sometimes” response, and no points for each “Never” response. Students will total points then look on the results chart to determine how much Leisure Activities benefit each of them.

  • Student Activity Sheet A
  • writing utensil

Activity 2: Name the Leisure Activity

Teacher will distribute a copy of Students Activity Sheet B to each student. Students will read the different benefits leisure activities may have on them, then name any leisure activity they can think of that could give them that benefit. Students should not use the same activity twice. When everyone is done, go around the classroom and have each student share one response with the class.

Script Writing and Animation

Script Prompt: Pair students and have them take turns creating a movie clip about one of the following topics listed below. Students should name and record their scripts using SiLAS software, and save the final movie.

  • Script sheet for each group
  • Pencil for each student

  3. Participating in a leisure activity that increases creativity
  4. Participating in a leisure activity that reduces stress or anxiety
  5. Participating in a leisure activity that involves exercising your brain
