Identifying Emotions - Parent 2

Your child is participating in classroom activities focused on learning how to identify emotions. We would love for you to keep the discussion going at home!

Definition: Emotions are an individual's mood or feelings.

Here are just a few ideas to help get the conversation started:

  • Discuss with your child the different emotions they learned about at school.
  • Emotions are the feelings we have in different situations.
  • Ask your child to show you facial expressions for the following emotions: mad, nervous, confused, silly, sleepy, frustrated, angry, disappointed, sick, and embarrassed.

Pick some of your favorite picture books. Look through the pictures and find pictures that show different emotions. Draw a picture of your favorite emotion that you found and label it.
