Winning and Losing - Parent 1
Home
Your student is participating in classroom activities helping them learn good sportsmanship (ways to win and lose). We would love for you to keep the discussion going at home!
Definition: Winning means to come in first place. Losing means to not win. Both actions can make you feel emotions. It is important to remain positive if you lose and if you win to encourage others to always try their best.
Here are just a few ideas to help get the conversation started:
- What is good sportsmanship?
- What does it mean to be a good sport?
- What are some ways to be a “poor or bad” loser?
- What are some ways to be a “poor or bad winner”?
Activity
Draw a picture of a time you were the winner or the loser of a game played at home. After, talk to your child about the situation they drew. Discuss if they showed good or poor sportsmanship. If they showed poor sportsmanship, ask them how they could have reacted differently to show good sportsmanship.
