Identifying Anger - Parent 1
Home
Your student is participating in classroom activities helping them learn how to identify anger. We would love for you to keep the discussion going at home!
Definition: Anger is a feeling people get when something unfair, painful, or bad happens. It is described as a feeling of displeasure.
Here are just a few ideas to help get the conversation started:
- Everyone feels anger. It's ok to feel angry. The important part is to not act on your anger so that it hurts others or yourself.
- When we are angry our body gives us signals such as heart beating fast, hands sweating, or clenched fist.
- We may become angry for many reasons. Sometimes when we don't like to be told we can't do something or when we lose a game we might become angry.
- Share your own situations that cause you to feel anger and what strategies or coping skills you use to lessen that feeling of anger.
Activity
Draw a picture or write about something that causes you to get angry at home. After, talk to your child about the situation they drew and different ways they can act next time to lessen that feeling of anger.
