Your child is participating in classroom activities focused on learning how to identify when others around them are feeling anger. We would love for you to keep the discussion going at home!
Definition: Anger is the feeling people get when something is unfair, painful, or bad happens; it is a feeling of displeasure.
Student Goal: In social situations, the student will use a learned strategy to respond to others’ anger.
Here are just a few ideas to help get the conversation started:
- Review with your child what anger is.
- Everyone feels anger. It is ok to feel angry.
- Anger has different levels.
- When we are angry our body gives us signals such as heart racing, palms sweating, or clenched fist.
- We may become angry for many reasons. Sometimes when we are told we can’t do something, or we lose a game we might become angry.
- Discuss with your child what clues help them know someone is angry.

- vocabulary or words used
- Allow your child to share how they feel when others are angry.
- Encourage your child to talk with you about when they feel angry and possible reasons why.
