Eye Contact - Parent 1
Home
Your student is participating in classroom activities helping them learn how to make direct eye contact when people are speaking or during a conversation with others. We would love for you to keep the discussion going at home!
Definition: Eye contact is what we do when we look directly into someone's eyes. We should look at others when talking to them or listening to them.
Review the following discussion topics with your child.
When is it important to look at others?
- When we are talking.
- When they are talking.
- When we ask/answer a question.
- When we need help.
Ask your child how he/she feels when they are talking/asking a question and the other person/persons are not looking at them or paying any attention.
Share examples of when you used eye contact with people both at home and in a social situation outside of home.
Activity
Draw a picture to show when it is important to use eye contact at home. After, talk to your child about the situation they drew. Have them explain why eye contact was important in that situation.
